DIY

DIY. Whilst I enjoy it for the most part at times it can be a right pain in the backside if I'm not in the mood. Generally, however, I get stuck into most things e.g. electrics, plumbing, woodwork, building, painting and decorating, the garden. I prefer to do electrical work and plumbing and loathe the garden most of all, (good job I've only have a small one... garden that is!!!).

Usually I drag everybody else into the work but Trudi is usually the main help on the bigger jobs. She also does a lot of the work like painting, wall papering and likes to be a large part of the work we do which is great.

Typical jobs we have tackled include installing a new kitchen and a burglar alarm system.  Removing, resiting and installing new radiators, building new doorways and banisters, installing a new garage door, installing garden fencing, building a new shed and laying a patio. The more mundane work includes laying new carpets, painting woodwork, wall papering. installing new internal doors etc.

Although this type of work is very time consuming there is the benefit that you have done it yourself (sic) but the main reason is I am a tight git and I don't want to pay someone else to do a job that I can do for about a third of the price. This reasoning also leaves more money for the essentials in life such as motorbikes and beer.

When we get the site fully sorted I may post some pics and/or discuss certain jobs we have done.
